to give myself the opportunity to embark on an epic road trip around Australia. Although I've travelled around Australia before, this time will be extra special because I'll be setting off solo in a van that I transformed into my very own tiny home on wheels.
But this journey is about much more than just beautiful scenery and iconic destinations. Along the way, I plan to visit my three brothers, who live in very different corners of Australia: Phillip Island in Victoria, Perth in Western Australia, and Darwin in the Northern Territory.
I grew up with one of my brothers, but in 2018 we both discovered that we had two more brothers whom had been kept a secret. Since then, I have had the opportunity to meet one of them. In fact, he helped me to lift the plywood floor in and out of the van during the build. The third brother, however, I have never met.
The thought of driving across Australia to meet him for the first time feels both exciting and a little daunting. It is one of the goals that motivates me to keep working on this van, even when the build feels overwhelming.
This trip will be a huge challenge. I'll be travelling thousands of kilometres, navigating unfamiliar places, and spending long periods on the road by myself. But that's part of the appeal. I want to prove to myself that I can do it.
Building this van has given me a goal, and that goal is much bigger than the van itself. It's about freedom, adventure, family, and having the courage to say yes to something that feels just a little bit scary.
Now I just need to finish building the van so I can get going!

There’s still so much more to come.
